Please welcome Cecy back to the blog!

cecyrobsonHi, Kristin. Thank you for having me!

The newest novel in your Weird Girls series, A CURSED EMBRACE, just came out! What can we expect to see from Celia and the gang this time around?
Hmmm. Lots of action, tension, and gut-wrenching moments intermixed with exploding demon parts and often snort-worthy humor.

In spite of Celia’s undeniable attraction to Aric, she’s so far had trouble overcoming her shyness and insecurity. How much would you say Celia has grown from the first novel?
Celia grows significantly. She’s stronger―emotionally and physically―and she’ll need every last bit of her strength for what she endures in A CURSED EMBRACE. What’s difficult for her is that side of her that questions Aric’s feelings remains. He doesn’t make it easy, and often validates her insecurities by holding back or reinforcing her fears through his actions or words. But like all great heroines, she knows life has to go on, no matter how badly it sometimes hurt.

acursedembraceThere is certainly some steamy bits in the books. For you, what’s the hardest part of writing a love scene?
Heh, heh. The hardest part is creating love scenes that are physically possible. I know some people out there are really flexible, but sometimes I wonder if I’m pushing the limits. If I start introducing trampolines, tire irons, and / or Fruit Loops, you may have to start questioning my creativity.

What’s been your favorite part of writing the series so far?
Everything about it is great―from revving up the tension, creating epic battle scenes, to getting to know my “weird” girls and diving headfirst into their minds and hearts.

You don’t shy away from horrifying situations in your novels (demon babies!!). What’s something that truly scares you?
Demon babies. Seriously, anything hell-like freaks me out. In CURSED BY DESTINY, the third novel in my series, there’s a scene where Celia encounters a demon―a real one―not the hybrid demon babies are. I had chills and kept looking over my shoulder as I wrote. *shudder*

In your writing, are you a plotter or a pantser? Will you take us through your writing process?
I usually write out a synopsis first, so I don’t eliminate import things like the plot. From there, I pants away―dialogue, action, characters, etc.. So long as I know how my novel starts, how it ends, and what my plot is, my overactive imagination can take it from there.

Read any good books lately?
I’m currently reading Chris Marie Green’s Night Rising. I love her creepy take on the darker side of Hollywood and vamps in general. I also just finished reading Kait Ballenger’s Shadow Hunter―a novella in an anthology she shares with Gena Showalter. Keep an eye out for Kait, she’s going to be huge. The last full-length novel I read was Cold Days which I loved and cements Jim Butcher as a UF god.

What’s next for you (and the Wird Sisters!)?
I’m currently waiting to see how Penguin will wish to proceed with the Weird Girls Series. Book four, tent. titled A CURSED BLOODLINE is currently with my new editor, Elizabeth. Depending on what she says, Weird Girls five and six will either belong once more to Celia, or it will be Taran’s turn to take the limelight. A great deal happens to everyone in book four, and it ultimately affects who the girls become and what paths they take. As for me, I currently have my Old Erth series, a High Fantasy Romance, out on submission. And, as I wait for edits on CURSED BY DESTINY, and Bren’s novella, A CURSED MOON, I’m writing a new Urban Fantasy trilogy.

Phew! I’m sure that was a lot for everyone to take in. Thanks again for having me, Kristin!

About A CURSED EMBRACE:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twentysomething girls—with one tiny exception: They are the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that made them, well, a little weird.…

After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being “weird” isn’t always welcome.

To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status. And once weres start turning up dead—with evidence pointing to the vampires—she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only masks a new threat. An evil known as the Tribe has risen—and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.
