Book News: August 30th, 2012

I haven’t done a news post in a while, so I thought I’d gather up some interesting stuff from the web and share it here. Have any interesting book related news? Feel free to share it in the comments!

• Over at Heroes and Heartbreakers you can read an excerpt of Soul Trade, Caitlin Kittredge’s newest Black London novel, and also an excerpt of Jane: The Woman Who Loved Tarzan by Robin Maxwell. That’s definitely cause for some, um, chest pounding, yes?

• If you’re in the mood for a short story or two, head over to Tor where you can read Men Who Wish to Drown by Elizabeth Fama, the author of the upcoming Monstrous Beauty, and The Fire Gown by Michael Swanwick, author of Dancing With Bears, and more!

• Did you hear the great news about Kevin Hearne, author of the Iron Druid series? He’ll be writing a brand new novel in the Star Wars universe and he’s super excited about it (and so are we!) You can read more about it here, and maybe even head over to his twitter and send him a congrats too!

• Are you up for a few giveaways? I’m giving away a copy of IN A FIX by Linda Grimes, and for mystery lovers, Louise Penny’s The Beautiful Mystery is up for grabs at Criminal Element!

• For all you werewolf fans out there, Amanda Carlson’s Full Blooded is out on Sept. 11th (a little earlier on Amazon), but you can pick up her e-novella, Blooded, for only 99 cents, and it’s a limited time price, so hurry!

• Suzanne Johnson is over at Tor talking about “genre-benders” in September, and there are some great titles in her list, so head on over!

• To wrap up, for your viewing pleasure, is the book trailer for Mockingbirds by Chuck Wendig. I reviewed it here (much love), and Chuck would like to know what you think of it, and book trailers in general. You can weigh in on that on his website (be honest, yet gentle.)
