Halloween Giveaway: Dead of Night: A Zombie Novel by Jonathan Maberry

Halloween is right around the corner! That means all the ghouls, ghosts, beasties, and zombies will be coming out soon,so how about a giveaway? One of my favorite books this year was Dead of Night by Jonathan Maberry, and the wonderful folks at St. Martins have offered up a copy for one lucky winner! Read my review and make sure you check out the contest deets at the end of the post. Happy haunting and good luck!

About the book:
A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects. Before he could be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Infected. Contagious. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang…but a bite.

Giveaway is now closed. Thanks to everyone that entered!

  1. I’m dull. I love the black cats – they can be mean beasties esp. when witch’s familiar or really a werecat. :->

  2. My favorite Halloween monster is the zombie and I’m a big Maberry fan. I’m also partial to vamps and witches however πŸ˜‰ I’m a pretty big horror nut actually and even write it myself.

  3. I love witches <3 Me and my girly friends wish we were at Hogwarts <3

  4. Well zombies of course.

The fact that the monsters are formerly us turned into a decaying version of us that has none of the humanity left is so strong. That’s the reason that they work so well as the vehicle for some form of message or theme in a story.

If I had to pick a who, then I would have to go with Big Daddy (gas station zombie from Land of the Dead) because he goes from the mindless dead like everyone else to relearning to think and calculate – to lead his zombie family. Once he starts being able to calculate (no matter how minor) he gets even scarier. Mostly because the difference between him and a human gets less as the movie goes on.

  5. Zombies, for sure. They’re all the rage right now, and I’m loving it! Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. I’d have to go with witches, I’ve always wanted magic powers.

  7. Probably werewolves with zombies being a close second.

  8. I’ve always loved Freddy. I grew up watching him. I think I started when I was about 5 and haven’t stopped loving the horror genre. I will watch any horror movie even if it has “cheese” written all over it.

  9. I would have to go with witches. As the proud owner of a black cat, that seems only fitting. Oh, and my black cat’s name is Samhain, so she’s always in the Halloween spirit.

  10. this would be amazing. I’m awfully fond of zombies these days. I don’t mind vamps either, and witches are fun. but zombies are at the top.

  11. I would go with witches and thanks for the giveaway!

  12. I got to go with vampires. They would freak me out as a kid. Thanks for the chance to win Dead of Night. This book is on my wish list.

  13. I love Elvira!

  14. I would have to go with ghosts or witches..

  15. My Halloween beastie is definitely a zombie. They are always gross and creepy. They will always be scary to me, especially the new zombies that run. They are bad enough walking towards you, but the best thing was that they were slow. Now they are freaking track runners LOL! Really makes things worse πŸ™ Great giveaway hon, thank you so much πŸ™‚

  20. I have to go with vampires. I love vampires.

  21. I’m still a vampire girl. Zombies and witches and weres are great too, but there’s something about a bad boy vamp that still gets me. I blame Lestat (my very first vampire crush).

  22. Zombies, everythign else is boring really.

  23. Hello, I think this is the year for Zombies but my favorite halloween character is the Headless Horseman. I can just see the one where he has the pumpkin as a head. I have always loved that.
Great contest, I’m currently reading Patient Zero and loving it so far.
