Blog Tour and Giveaway: Jus Accardo, author of Touch

Please welcome Jus Accardo to the blog today! Jus is the author of the brand new YA paranormal romance, Touch, due out Nov. 1st. Jus is here courtesy of Entangled Publishing and tells us about her new book, what’s on her nightstand right now, and how she likes to spend her time when she’s not writing (and more)! Also, one ecopy of Touch is up for grabs to one lucky winner, so be sure to read the details at the bottom of the post!

Jus, your brand new YA novel, Touch, is due out November 1st! Can you tell
us a bit about it?
Here’s the official blurb:
When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet,
seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity
to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue
eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower,
is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll
turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up,
wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez
realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she
realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to
collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his
entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a
group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught
and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent
her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.

Have you always wanted to be a writer?
For the most part, yeah. I grew up around food and books and it was always going to be one of those two :-)

What made you choose the paranormal/urban fantasy genre, and what do you
like best about writing in the genre?
I think it’s because it’s my favorite to read. Plus, I have a crazy
imagination. I can really put it to good use writing paranormal and uf!

What are some of your biggest literary influences?
S.E. Hinton, Mary Stanton, Kelley Armstrong, and the Queen of Snark, Rob Thurman!

What’s on your nightstand right now?
A box of doggie bones, my Galaxy, and a really big stuffed Stitch (because he’s the awesomest cartoon character ever!) Also, I think there must be some Akita hair on there somewhere. Heh. That kinda rhymes…

What is your most unusual writing quirk?
I can’t write with shoes on. Seriously. Socks are okay in the winter. Nice big fluffy ones—but no shoes! I have no clue why…

Is there a book that you’ve ever “faked” reading?
I don’t think there really is one. No matter how uninterested in a book I am, I usually have to finish it.

When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your free time?
I love the outdoors. I try to take the dogs out hiking behind the house atleast twice a week. Now is the absolute best time, too. Behind our houseis all woods and with the leaves turning—It’s beautiful. I also love to cook and am a sucker for cartoons!

If you could pack your bags and travel anywhere in the world tomorrow,
where would you go, and why?
Well, if someone invented a teleporter (I have plane issues) I’d head to Australia in a heartbeat. If not, I’d kinda like to see Vermont. I’ve always wanted to go skiing.

Are there any authors, actors, etc that if you were to meet them, you’d go all “fangirl” over?
I’d probably drool all over myself if I got to meet Rob Thurman in person. That, or run and hide. I’m crazy shy.

Quick! What’s something that makes you laugh out loud?
I’m a sucker for funny animal videos! That, and those borderline freaky Kia commercials with the giant hamsters… I don’t know if I should be giggling—or running to hide under the covers. Admit it. You feel the same
way!

What would the title of your memoirs be?
Confessions From An Alternate Reality

Is there any news of upcoming projects or events you’d like to share with us?
Well I’m currently alternately working on the second book in the Denazen series, TOXIC, and a novella that will come out between books 1 and 2. It will be in Kale’s POV.

I would like to ask Jus is there a story/book she reads over and over again and never gets bored? Mine is Huntress by LJ Smith.

    • Jus Accardo says:

      Hey Christy :)

I have comfort books. I can read them over and over and never get tired of them. When I’m feeling blah or I just need to recharge, I curl up with them and all is right with the world. I LOVE that yours is an L.J Smith book. I LOVE her stuff :)

      A few are :
      Bitten – Kelley Armstrong
      Nightllife – Rob Thurman
And the original 4 Vampire Diaries books by L.j. Smith

      • christy says:

Awww, i am glad to hear you say the ORIGINAL 4 VA books. The news ones, imo, aren’t very good and kind of spoil the story. Haha thanks for sharing, and thanks for teaching me the term, comfort books. :D

Deznee. Not a common name. Where did you find it? How did you come up with it if you didn’t? I mean, it’s a pretty and unique name, but I’ve never seen it. Oh, and what does it mean?
thanks for visiting and doing an interview

    • Jus Accardo says:

My question for the author is what inspired you to write this book and where the story idea came from?

BTW I live in Australia so hopefully I’ll see your novel soon in bookstores here ;-)

    • Jus Accardo says:

You want the truth? A long line waiting for coffee… Seriously. I got the idea while waiting in the drive through line last May. I was staring out into the woods and got the picture in my head of a girl being chased through the woods. Everything she touched withered and died. :D
