Q&A and Giveaway: Lee Roland, author of Viper Moon

Lee, I really enjoyed Viper Moon, and can’t wait for the next book in the series! Do you have a set plan for how many books you’d like to write for the series, or will you just see where it takes you?
I only plan three books for the series. Then I want to discover new places where magic and the modern world meets.
What do you like most about writing urban fantasy?
I like Urban Fantasy because it allows the imagination to run wild, but tames it a bit when you put it in an urban setting. I like the contrast and occasionally conflict between magic and machine. Throw in the human component and you can do anything.
What book is on your nightstand right now?
The latest Janet Evanovich book staring Diesel, the Unmentionable.
What is your favorite Stephen King title (it’s hard to pick just one)?
It’s a tie between The Stand and The Talisman. I love the way King’s story and characters constantly evolve. Both The Stand and The Talisman involve a journey, one of my favorite types of story.
If you could pack up and travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
The high mountains of the desert southwest.
If someone was visiting Florida for the first time, where is the first place you’d take them to see?
If it is winter, I’d take them to Key West. If it is summer, I’d tell them to stay home.
We all have authors that we “pimp”. You know, the one that if someone gives you an opening, you’ll talk about their books ad naseum? Do you have one of those?
Sorry, I’m a bit of an introvert. I prefer to listen to others. That’s how I discover new authors to read.
When you’re writing, how do you like to spend your free time?
I still have the day job, so there isn’t much free time. In November I will be leaving that to write full time and maybe I’ll get to travel a little. Photography is fun, too.
Is there any news of upcoming projects or events you’d like to share?
I’m in the process of edits for Vengeance Moon, the second book in the Earth Witches series. It has a release date of April 2012.
