I’m ecstatic to have talented (and local) author Michele Bardsley on the blog today! Michele is the bestselling author of the Broken Heart series, the brand new Nevermore series, and much more! Michele has also generously offered 5 copies of the newest Broken Heart novel, Must Love Lycans, to 5 lucky winners (it’s international), so be sure to check out the giveaway details at the end of the post.
Please welcome Michele to the blog!
Michele, you’re the author of the hilarious Broken Heart series as well as the brand new Nevermore series (and much more)! Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Yes. I’m one of those writers who fell in love with words very early. Or rather, I fell in love with storytelling. Writers are excellent liars. Ahem.
What’s been one of your most favorite characters to write, and why?
This is always such a difficult question to answer. It’s like being asked “Which of your children do you like the best?” (The answer: Depends on the day. Ha!) I really enjoyed writing many characters in all my series and stories, but if I have to choose … then I would say Jessica and Patrick from I’M THE VAMPIRE, THAT’S WHY will always hold a special place in my writer’s heart. And I really enjoyed writing Kelsey and Damian’s story in MUST LOVE LYCANS. It only took seven books to get Damian his story!
What do you like most about writing paranormal romance and urban fantasy?
I like taking fantastical elements, such as magic or werewolves, and putting them into our world as if the supernatural is just a regular part of our daily lives.
If you could be a supernatural being, what would you pick?
Probably a vampire. I know, I know … blood diet, but it’s a fair exchange for losing the cellulite, the years, and the dark circles under my eyes.
Did you have any favorite books or authors growing up? Any current faves?
Growing up I loved reading Paula Danzinger. The Pistachio Prescription is one of my all-time favorite teen reads. I also read a lot of Harlequin Romances!
What book is on your nightstand right now?
I have a pile o’ books. Right now, I’m catching up on Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampires series. I also have TORMENT by Lauren Kate, the last three books in the Sookie Stackhouse series, and an Eat This, Not That book.
When you get some downtime, how do you like to spend it?
Um, what is this “down time” you speak of? I have a day job, I’m writing three series, and I occasionally get see the humans that I love. LOL!
Quick! Name something or someone that makes you laugh out loud?
The Viking AKA the Fiance. He always knows how to make me laugh. He’s the only person alive who can instantly put me in a better mood. Seriously. The only one.
What’s one of the most daring things you’ve ever done (that you’re willing to admit to)?
Fill out this interview. LOL. I don’t know about daring. The older you get, the more you realize how much crap out there can kill you.
Maybe this isn’t a daring moment, but it was fun: During the early months of dating the Viking, we were driving home from having dinner and we passed this parking lot carnival. It had one of those pirate boat amusement rides. We were dressed nice and I’m wearing high heels. And the Viking said, “You want to stop and go on the pirate ship?” And I said, “Yes! Yes, I do!”
So, he turned around.
He bought tickets and we sat down in the very back, which was the optimal laughing and arm-raising sport, and we rode the pirate ship. It was a goofy, impulsive moment—and one of my favorite memories.
Is there any news of upcoming projects or events you’d like to share?
Yes! I’m writing a new YA series under the name of Michele Vail. The first novel in The Reaper Diaries is called UNDEADLY, and it hits shelves on February 28, 2012.

About Must Love Lycans:
Since the moment Damien showed up-gloriously naked-Kelsey Morningstone has been having a hard time keeping her relationship with the clinic’s latest amnesiac patient strictly professional. Even with her empathy abilities Kelsey’s not sure she can get past Damien’s anger to find the cause of his delusions. After all, falling for a patient is bad enough, but falling for a patient who thinks he’s a werewolf is a whole other kind of crazy…
