Linda, your Hex series is highly successful, you’re an accomplished romance author, and your brand new book, Demons Are a Girl’ Best Friend, just came out! Is there a particular genre that you love writing the most? What do you like about each genre?
Thanks Kristin! I do love writing paranormal and urban fantasy because I feel as if there are no boundaries. My imagination can do what it loves best – think outside the box. I’ve written traditional romance – a great way to get my footing in writing, humorous romance – easy to do since I love romantic comedy movies, one action/adventure romance – I liked to call it if Indiana Jones had a granddaughter, and romantic suspense – because I love the puzzles the genre provides, but my first love is things that go bump in the night, whether they’re good or evil.

Can you tell us a little bit about Maggie and Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend?
Maggie is my kick ass witch. She’s part of the Hex series, just with a different title and cover design. She’s a team leader for the pretenatural enforcement agency, the Hellions, that keep the peace among the varied species.

Maggie’s going through some mood swings lately, even wondering if she has a biological clock ticking while a good friend is pregnant. And now she’s met a sexy half fire demon, Declan, who’s revving her hormones big time. Trouble is, there’s more going on such as an ancient Mayan curse coupled with demons that could destroy the world. Maggie’s idea of motherhood comes back to bite her when she’s made guardian of a snarky teenage girl who’s at the center of the curse. As Maggie announces when she learns about teen Courtney, “we’re screwed”.

What were some of your favorite authors or novels when you were growing up?
LOL! I’d probably date myself by saying I read Nancy Drew, The Bobbsey Twins when I was younger, and in my teens I read a lot of mysteries and suspense books.

Do you have any contemporary faves?
So many must buys on my list. Yasmine Galenorn, Jeanine Frost, Jennifer Estep, Rhys Bowen, Jim Butcher, Iola Andrews, Faith Hunter, John Sanford, Rob Thurman, Mark Del Franco, Anton Strout. And it seems I’m picking up someone new all the time. My Nook is always loaded with fun reads.

What’s on your nightstand right now?
I’m reading Jim Butcher’s Ghost Story. I’m in awe of his writing and adore Harry Dresden who can get into trouble without even trying.

If you could pack up and travel anywhere you wanted tomorrow, where would it be?
Easy, Australia. I’ve always wanted to go there.

What do you like best about living in California, and if you had a visitor that was new to the state, what would you take them to see first?
I was born and raised here. My problem is I like different areas for different reasons. It would have to be the San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. A great way to spend the day and where you don’t feel rushed. I bet you thought I’d say Disneyland, didn’t you? :}

When you get some downtime in your busy schedule, what do you like to do to unwind?
Hm, I don’t have the downtime I’d like. Visiting the nearby vineyards is great or Old Town Temecula, which is also nearby. You can walk around and feel history there plus a lot of fun shops to explore.

Is there any other news of upcoming projects or events that you’d like to share?
Next January will see A Demon Does It Better which features Lili a healer, and Jared a sexy demon with a dark past. You’ll also meet Cleo, a diva cat with major attitude since she’s THAT Cleo. Seems that asp didn’t do the trick. I’m also releasing an e-novella titled Hotel Hex which features Jazz and Nick that will hopefully be up the end of August or beginning of September and I’m also releasing Thea’s book later this year which is titled Guns ‘N Hexes. I’m also releasing my backlist books as ebooks. I have a few up now and more coming, so always good to check my website to see what’s going on.

  1. Hi Linda,
I’m going to be greedy here, I bought a copy and put in the bookplate that Linda sent me. I want to win a copy and donate it to the Olive Free Library up in W. Shokan, NY. Their budget has been slashed so many times it’s enough to make you cry. I send them books that I’ve reviewed but don’t want to keep to help however I can.

  2. Wow, Linda. Your books sound great. I can’t wait to upload one onto my Nook. Any suggestions on where I should start?

Also, I wanted to mention that from a marketing standpoint, I like the way this site, interview format, and easy access contact information is set up. Very nice job. I’m releasing my debut novel, Heaven is for Heroes, (an indie-pubbed contemporary YA romance) this month and I’m always checking out book review sites. This one looks great!

Thanks, Linda–hope i win a copy of your book:)

    • Hi PJ!
Each book in the series stands alone, so you’d be okay. I’m a Nook owner too. For some reason 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover and Hex Appeal aren’t available at BN, but I think it’s at Smashwords for Nooks.
      Congratulations on your new release!

Lisa talked about the death march, didn’t she? The woman is dangerous! And why Fluff and Puff went with her to renew her driver’s license on her b/d. They didn’t like her death march either.
