My Bookish News: August 5th, 2011

Happy Friday gang! I hope everyone has had a wonderful week. I’ve got lots of fun stuff to share with you, but first, I want to take a moment and say a word about the passing of LA Banks. Ms. Banks (Leslie Esdaile) passed away on the morning of August 2nd of late stage adrenal cancer. She was the author of the Vampire Huntress Legend and the Crimson Moon series (and much more). She will be sorely missed. If you’d like to donate something to help out her family with medical bills, head over to the Leslie Esdaile Fund site for details.

*If you’re a fan of The Office (as I certainly am), then you’re probably a Dwight fan too! Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight on the iconic show, is a sci-fi/fantasy fan, and this week, he was over at L.A. with his Top 10 list of favorite sci-fi/fantasy titles, so head on over and take a look at the slideshow!

*Over at the Tor/Forge blog, they’re giving away the entire Mistborn collection by Brandon Sanderson (4 books)! Click here for details and to enter!

*Are you excited about the release of Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake? You should be, cause it’s all kinds of awesome! This will be a featured title for an upcoming event at this blog (along with an interview with the author), but you can head on over to Goodreads and enter for a chance to win a copy RIGHT NOW! Ends August 21st!

*Visit Heroes and Heartbreakers to enter for a chance to win Second Grave on the Left by Darynda Jones!  Ends August 9th, so hurry!

*Did you know that a companion novella to Magic Strikes, by Ilona Andrews, is out? Well, now you do, and it’s available for only $2.99 as an ebook HERE.
About Magic Mourns: Andrea Nash of the Order of Knights of Merciful Aid—with an assist from her friend, Kate Daniels—tries to figure out why the giant three-headed dog who guards the gates of Hades is sniffing around Atlanta in this tale by the author of the “edgy series” full of “complex world-building and skilled characterizations”

*Stephanie Chong, author of the upcoming Where Demons Fear to Tread (Aug. 23rd), is giving away an ARC and a $25 Amazom gift card to one lucky winner HERE!
