Suspense Sunday #23: Lightning by Dean Koontz

Every Sunday I feature a title from an often overlooked genre: Suspense! These are books I’ve read and highly recommend to anyone that loves agood mystery or crime story, sometimes with a little humor thrown in!

Today’s feature title is: Lightning by Dean Koontz

Synopsis (from

A bolt of lightning brings a blond-haired stranger into Laura Shane’s life. But is he the guardian angel he seems? The devil in disguise? Or the master of a haunting destiny beyond time and space?
For these two there is no right, no wrong, no rules.
  Only the truth…and terror.
My take: I don’t read many books twice. I’ve read Lightning three times. It’s that good. Lightning has been around for a long time, but it’s just as strong today as it was when it was first published. Time travel, mystery, history, and romance combine to make a wonderful, dynamic story that will keep you riveted.

  1. I've read this book many years ago (Koontz is one of my fav authors) and after reading your blog post I desperately want to read it again 🙂 !

  2. This was my very first Koontz and goodness me… I was HOOKED!! I loved it! It made me happy inside to see you mention it here!

  3. I'm picky about my Koontz books. I've read Velocity, The Good Guy, and Odd Thomas. I liked all of those. Since you so highly recommend this one, I think I'll try it! Thanks!

  6. Kristin, I love you for featuring Dean Koontz! Net to Stephen King, he is one of my top fav writers ever. I grew up reading his books –some of them are awesome, some of them not as good, but The Lightning is definitely one of my top favorite ones! I read it twice so far and I'm sure I'll be reading it again!

Yay more Koontz love! I know I read this one, but it was so long ago that I don't remember much (anything) about it. I'll have to re-read. 🙂
