My Bookish News: July 29th, 2011

Happy Friday, gang! It’s time for this week’s book news and other fun stuff!

I don’t know about you, but I’m anxious to get my hands on a copy of Tattoo by Kirsten Imani Kasai. I have her first novel, Ice Song,on the TBR, and I haven’t read it yet (I know, shame on me!). Psst, you can read the first 50 pages of Ice Song HERE.

Anyway, you can learn a bit about Kirsten and Tattoo in this short interview that she did for DelRey, and feel free to order a copy of Tattoo while you’re at it! Be sure to head on over to her website and check out the details of the contest she’ll be running from Aug 1st-7th. Don’t worry, I’ll remind you to enter when the time comes, because I’ll certainly be entering the giveaway myself!

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s new novel, Retribution, hits stores on August 2nd, but if you register at Heroes and Heartbreakers (it’s free), you can preview an excerpt right now, and there’s also an excerpt of Blood Cursed (Shadowfae), by Erica Hayes, also out August 2nd!

I’m so excited about Cowboys and Aliens, and may even get a sitter to see it (this is rare), so I had to tell you about the Cowboys and Aliens Prize Pack that they’re giving away over at Suvudu! Head on over and fill out the form to enter, but be quick, because the giveaway ends on August 2nd!

Chelsea, of Vampire Book Club (and my PIC), is fed up with True Blood, and she’s not taking it anymore! She tells us why and gives us her True Blood Ultimatum at Heroes and Heartbreakers! How do you feel? Leave a comment and let her know!

Do you remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books? Well, I do, and I loved them as a kid, so I was kinda psyched to find out that the folks behind Worst-Case Scenario has come up with their own spin on the genre: Worst-Case Scenario Ultimate Adventure! The series looks awesome, and I imagine it would especially appeal to those reluctant readers in your life, so be sure to check it out!

Finally, I just finished up The Magicians by Lev Grossman, and am really excited about The Magician King’s upcoming release. I’ll be reviewing it as well but in the meantime, you can head on over to the website and find all kinds of cool features and info about both books to tide you over until the release date (Aug. 9th)!
