Cie and Cathy, welcome to My Bookish Ways! It’s such a pleasure to have you both here today!
Thanks so much for having us! We really appreciate having the opportunity to visit with you.
Cie and Cathy, you have a 13 yr. history of writing together! Wow! How did you meet, and what made you decide to work together?
We met at a law office where we were both working. While we were walking for exercise we started talking about the books Cie was writing and it progressed from there.
You have three Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy series and various individual projects under your belts. Why PNR and Urban Fantasy? What do you like about writing these genres in particular?
We love writing action and suspense, and dealing with the paranormal provides plenty of both, along with (of course) a heaping dollop of romantic and sexual tension.
The newest book in the Bloodsinger series, Demon Song, dropped in March, and the series has been wildly popular! Can you tell us a bit about it?
Celia Graves lives in a world where the paranormal is … normal. She grew up thinking she was a “vanilla human” with no talents whatsoever, and learned to compensate for it using technology and planning until she became a very successful bodyguard to the rich and famous.Unfortunately, in Blood Song the first book of the series, a job goes very wrong and she barely survives a brutal vampire attack, leaving her a half turned Abomination and activating her latent Siren blood.
When you’re writing, how do you coordinate the collaboration?
Generally there’s a lot of advance discussion and back and forth before the books are started. Then one of us will write a first draft and pass it to the other, who will make (frequently major) changes, discuss problems, do an overall edit, then pass it back to the first person to accept or reject the changes and get the book in the final format for submission.
For each of you, what do you absolutely need in order to write? Anything in particular that helps the process?
Cie – Well, I can’t name anything I NEED, but I wouldn’t turn down a handsome cabana boy feeding me peeled grapes. (LOL). Seriously, I do better when I write a little bit every day. And I do need rest. If I’m exhausted, or ill, the writing shows it and I wind up deleting most of what I put down.
Cathy – Chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. LOL
Can you each tell us something about yourselves that maybe a lot of people wouldn’t know?
Cie – I’ve been struck by lightning.
Cathy – My husband and I raise goats.
Other than the exciting news that there will be at least three more books in the Blood Singer series, is there any other news of upcoming projects you’d like to share?
We’re currently in edits on the next Bloodsinger novel, and there is another in the beginning stages. But besides that, Cathy recently had some short stories come out in Chicks in Capes and Those Who Fight Monsters, and Cie will be having a story in the upcoming Mammoth Book of Ghost Romance. We’re currently working on the first draft of a novel in a completely new reality for us, but that won’t be appearing until it goes through the whole publication process. And while it’s always fun to spend tiem with our favorite characters, it is exciting to work on new things.

About the book (from BN.com)
In a world where bloodthirsty vampires roam the night and streetcorner psychics have real powers, bodyguard Celia Graves always thought she was an ordinary human—but that was never true. By ancestry, she’s half-Siren; a vicious vampire attack has turned her into a creature who finds sunlight painful and must take all her food in liquid form—but who still possesses a human heart, mind, and soul. Her bodyguard business is booming: who wouldn’t want to be protected by a sexy woman who is half-vampire, half-Siren princess, and a crack shot? Unfortunately, it looks like Celia may have little time to enjoy her newfound fame . . . .
A rift is opening between the demonic dimension and our own, threatening to set hell’s denizens free (including the demon personally bent on destroying Celia). Celia’s recent troubles may have given her the unique combination of abilities needed to close the rift. But to overcome a death curse which nearly guarantees her failure, she’ll need to join forces with people she no longer trusts . . . and put people she cares about directly in harm’s way.
