My Favorite Things June Event with Candace’s Book Blog

Hello, loyal readers! Now that it’s getting warmer (ok, in my neck of the woods it is!), it’s time to look forward a little to Summertime! Summertime, for me, means fun, so have I got some news for you!  Last year in June, Candace of Candace’s Book Blog did a Favorite Things Event where she spotlighted some of her favorite books and authors (and a few other things) and did a lot of giveaways in celebration of her birthday. It was a lot of fun and was her first venture into planning an event alone.

Well, this year Candace isn’t going at it alone! I’ll be co-hosting this year, and with the two of us joining forces, it’s going to be bigger (MUCH bigger!) and better than last year! This year the event is running from May 23rd to July 1st, BUT we’re getting such a great response from authors and publishers that we may have to extend it!

Our tentative schedule is:
May 23rd-27 Steampunk
May 30th- June 17th is Paranormal, Urban fantasy, Fantasy and Horror.
June 20th- 24th is Historical Fiction
June 27th-July 1st is Dystopian

So what are we doing, exactly? Well, we’ve spoken with authors, publishers, agents… you know, all those awesome book people, and we have tons of interviews, guest posts and giveaways lined up! We’ll also be doing reviews of books that fit the genres we’re featuring!

Here’s just a few of the titles and authors we’re planning on featuring, and we’ll keep adding to this as we get closer to the event!

Now for some business…
Ok, Uncle Sam doesn’t, but Candace and I are looking for a few people to do guest posts about the different genres we’re spotlighting. We would like to have a few booklovers give their thoughts on why they may love that genre.
We are also hoping to get a few people to sponsor giveaways for the international folks. We’re getting a lot of books for giveaway, but if the authors or pubs aren’t mailing them, we are, and the costs are way too prohibitive to ship those books around the world. We are trying to come up with some different ways we can have some international giveaways included. If you’re interested in sponsoring one let me know.
Shoot me an email at MyBookishWays[at]gmail[dot]com

*If you are interested in sponsoring a giveaway you could do it with a guest post and we would link to your blog (or whatever site you would like). If you don’t want to do a guest post then I will be making it clear with the giveaway who is sponsoring it and it will link to your blog. If you don’t have a blog, then just tell me where to link it up!

*Do you have a website or Etsy shop you would like featured? We’d be happy to have you! Remember we are being genre specific, so your item would need to fit the theme. If you have an Etsy shop and make jewelry then you would want to make sure that your jewelry fit one of the themes listed above (just an example). Please contact me if you have questions or are interested. Send me an email at MyBookishWays[at]gmail[dot[com]

We’ll be doing teasers of the some of the books and items we’ll be spotlighting. Be sure to keep an eye open for those. I’ll also keep this post up to date with all the goings on of the event. Candace has a teaser up as well, so make sure you check it out too! Closer to the time we’ll be listing the features and giveaways on this post. So be sure to grab the button and check back often!

I usually try to do a $50.00 giveaway every time I do a hop so this would be no different and would be a new experience!

This sounds fantastic! I wouldn't really know what to write in a guest post about these genres, I haven't really delved into them yet.

I would be more than happy to contribute to a giveaway though, perhaps a copy of one highlighted books from bookdepository.com for the international peeps? As an international blogger I can definitely say that there should always be more international giveaways! 😀
